EMSD releases lift and escalator contractors' latest performance ratings

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) today (January 19) announced the performance ratings of the registered lift and escalator contractors for the past 12 months (from January 2022 to December 2022) for public reference.

According to the rating results, 29 registered lift contractors and 22 registered escalator contractors were awarded the Safety Star. Among these contractors, 12 registered lift contractors and 14 registered escalator contractors had not been found non-compliant with the safety and maintenance requirements as reported in the last two consecutive announcements of performance results, and were therefore given the highest rating of five Quality Stars. The EMSD conducted 27 918 inspections of lifts and escalators during the period

Online Building Based Electricity Utilization Index Benchmarking Tool (Online Benchmarking Tool) has been launched

In order to mobilise the community to take collective actions to participate in energy conservation, it is required to enhance the transparency of data and benchmarks. The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) launched an Online Benchmarking Tool for five categories of commercial buildings in Hong Kong today (17 June). The Online Benchmarking Tool can facilitate the comparison of electricity utilization performance in commercial buildings and provide general advice on promoting building energy saving to buildings owners with a view to striving towards the target of achieving carbon neutrality before 2050.
