Building O&M Best Practice Award 2024

To commend organizations excelling in E&M operations and maintenance, and to encourage the trade to apply Best Practices for Operation and Maintenance Service, the Building O&M Best Practice Award 2024 organised by EMSD is now open for application.
Target Participants：
Owners, property management companies, facility management companies, and relevant E&M O&M service contractors of all buildings in Hong Kong equipped with 1) heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), 2) electrical, 3) fire service, and 4) lift and escalator installations are welcome to join this competition.
Key Dates:
• Open for Application: 1 August 2024
• Online Briefing: 20 August 2024
• Registration Deadline: 23 September 2024
• Submission Deadline: 30 September 2024
• Awards Ceremony: July 2025

VoiceLink | Issue 71 | Smart Flood Monitoring System Protects Critical Infrastructures

Flooding may occur in some parts of Hong Kong when severe weather strikes. To enhance flood prevention efforts, the EMSD has developed the Smart Flood Monitoring System (the System) equipped with innovative technologies to facilitate client departments’ monitoring of the water levels in critical infrastructures and early responses.

VoiceLink | Issue 71 | MiMEP Greatly Facilitates Installation of Large Equipment

The EMSD adopted the Multi-trade integrated Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MiMEP) approach to replace the air handling unit (AHU) in our Headquarters for the first time, greatly improving the works efficiency. The MiMEP method enables “off-site prefabrication and on-site assembly”, where electrical and mechanical (E&M) components are pre-manufactured in a factory and then transported to the Headquarters for assembly, thus streamlining the on-site installation process. The works period was much shortened from the original nine days to three days, resulting in significant time saving.
