E&M AI Lab Tech Talk Enhanced Trade Standards through Collaboration between Stakeholders
2025-06-02

The E&M AI Lab Tech Talk, hosted by the EMSD, was successfully held on 25 March 2025. The event was aimed at encouraging the trade to develop semantic AI and apply Agentic AI, thereby promoting innovation in building works and smart building management.
During the talk, the EMSD introduced the new AI agent for E&M facilities in buildings, the E&M Agent, and presented a live demonstration of its comprehensive services, including in-depth analysis and information consolidation for maintenance at various venues. Furthermore, two practice notes for AI-ready Building Informatics respectively focus on data quality and semantic modelling were released to provide practical insights and useful information for the trade, fostering trade participation and co-development. Experts from various sectors also discussed during the event the challenges of digital transformation and the potential of Agentic AI in smart buildings, decarbonisation and automation. The event not only helped strengthen innovative collaboration among stakeholders and raise trade standards, but also laid the foundation for future implementation of more innovation and technology (I&T) solutions, advancing the progress of the EMSTF’s third Five-year Strategic Plan.

Intelligent Fall Detection System to Safeguard Public Safety
2025-06-02
The EMSD continues to install the Intelligent Fall Detection System in accessible unisex toilets at recreation and sports venues under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). Installation for the initial 30 venues has been completed. Developed by the EMSD, the system provides a real-time alert platform to detect potential accidents within the accessible unisex toilets, thereby notifying resident staff to provide immediate assistance.
The system utilises Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology to detect human activity in conjunction with AI models to analyse and distinguish various postures associated with falls, extended instances of no movement and prolonged toilet occupancy. It also features voice recognition that allows users to request assistance verbally. To uphold user safety and privacy, the system operates without camera and image recording. In order to safeguard public safety, the LCSD has proposed to extend the system installation to relevant facilities across 18 districts.
