Mobile Digital Solution for Easy Repair Request Management
2025-11-23

Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) has improved the repair application submission process, strengthened customer communication, and enhanced overall service efficiency by launching a new mobile application called “Client Portal”, enabling customer departments to handle repair matters more conveniently.
With the app, clients can simply submit repair requests by providing basic information, and attaching equipment photos as needed. The app also features real-time status tracking, allowing clients to monitor repair progress anytime without the need to call for updates. The app also integrates all requests, both online and offline, for centralised management and easy progress tracking.

MiMEP Three-in-one Integrated Solution to Save Cost and Enhance Efficiency
2025-10-20
The Multi-trade integrated Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MiMEP) approach enhances construction efficiency, quality, and safety through off-site prefabrication and modular installation, making it ideal for Hong Kong’s high-density and fast-paced development needs. This year, the EMSD further introduced the MiMEP three-in-one solution, which integrates MiMEP, open Building Information Modelling (open BIM) standards, and the Building Information Modelling–Asset Management (BIM-AM) system. This approach was applied to 24 repair, maintenance, alteration and addition (RMAA) pilot projects, achieving remarkable results. Building on our hands-on experience, we presented a proposal titled “Era of Digitalisation and Sustainability: open BIM with Asset Management for MiMEP Projects towards New Quality Productive Forces”, which earned the Grand Award in the Technology Solution Category at the Hong Kong openBIM/openGIS Awards 2025.

Hong Kong Energy End-use Data 2025
2025-10-20
At EMSD, we compile data on the use of energy in Hong Kong and publish the publication "Hong Kong Energy End-use Data" which is available free to anyone. The publication covers energy consumption data of the different fuel types and the specific purposes for which they are consumed, e.g. air conditioning, lighting, cooking, etc. The data provides an understanding of the energy consumption patterns and usages, and arouses public interest and concern over the future development of energy in Hong Kong. Additionally, the information provides the Government with the basis to formulate and evaluate energy efficiency policies.
